Eight friends of the Kern River Preserve got together on Saturday, October 20th to cleanup just one of the many ranch dumps that we acquired in 2005. Our volunteers separated recyclables from trash and took two full trailers full of trash and recyclables to the Kernville transfer station. Large metal object recycling has gradually reduced the trash pile, but it will take several more work parties to make this an attractive and useful part of the preserve. Look for work party announcements in our upcoming events. Thanks to volunteers, Valerie Cassity, Chana Cortez, Jeff King, Rob Robinson, Alison Sheehey, Don Storm, Reed Tollefson and Sandra Wieser. |
