Wear clothing for the weather and outdoor work like boots or closed toe shoes, hat, layers, sun protection and work gloves. Bring food and water although we have drinks and snacks

Volunteer Days will be habitat restoration including planting, weeding, irrigation system maintenance and operations and/or general preserve maintenance may include clean up and repairs on trails and buildings.

School groups, civic groups, self-motivated and capable individual volunteers are welcome to contact me to set up alternative workdays and projects specific to your ability and desire to help. We have loads of work opportunities! If you have a skill and want to help, we want to give you a chance to do it.

California Quail, Acorn Woodpecker, Red-breasted Sapsucker, Nuttall's Woodpecker, White-headed Woodpecker, Oak Titmouse, Wrentit, California Thrasher, Le Conte's Thrasher, California Towhee, Tricolored Blackbird

Seasonal Birds that can be viewed in the Kern River Watershed

Yellow-billed Cuckoo (mid-June-late August), Hermit Warbler (May-July), Scott's Oriole (May-July), Lawrence's Goldfinch (late March-mid-July)

Visit the Kern River Preserve in Weldon, California. Open every day of the year from dawn to dusk.

The Kern River Preserve is managed by Audubon California for the preservation of one of California’s largest contiguous cottonwood-willow riparian forests and the wildlife it supports.

Audubon Kern River Preserve supporters provide financial and volunteer support for Preserve outreach, education, wildlife habitat protection & stewardship.

Since 1905 Audubon has been protecting birds and other wildlife and the habitat that supports them.
