Weldon, CA – On November 19, 2011, 20 students from the Wasco High School Outdoor Adventures Club, along with other volunteers and staff from the Kern River Preserve, improved a birding/hiking trail across Fay Creek on our Sprague Ranch addition. With the ever changing river we are excited that this trail should remain accessible most of the year.

This upland trail runs crosses Fay Creek and ends at Red-tail Point, overlooking the Kern River Preserve and beautiful South Fork forest.

We invite you to take a hike on this primitive trail. There are no water or bathroom facilities on the trail so be prepared to pack in and pack out. Park just inside the property by the hay barn corral and hike along the road until the you reach the triple junction of roads, turn sharply right on the road that heads back toward the hills and follow until you find the newly refurbished trail.
