7 a.m. - Birding KRP Headquarters and Nature Trails with Reed (easy walk)
9 a.m. - Continental Breakfast at the Headquarters - visit with other guests
10 a.m. - Visit the newest piece of the Preserve (Pond Property)
12 p.m. - Luncheon at the Sprague Ranch House
1 p.m. - Photo Journey of KRP during 2010 Reed and Sean (Sprague House)
2:00 pm – Friends Round Table Discussion (Sprague House)
3:00 pm – Walk About - (easy to moderate hike) (Sprague Ranch)

DIRECTIONS TO AUDUBON KERN RIVER PRESERVE

Kern River Preserve Headquarters (HQ) Location: 18747 Highway 178, Weldon. (Morning Events)

FROM BAKERSFIELD: Fifty-seven miles from Highway 99. Travel time: 1 hour 20 minutes give or take. Stay on Hwy 178 through Lake Isabella, pass through the villages of Mtn. Mesa and South Lake. Look for the large sign that says Kernville... continue on Hwy 178 1.1 miles beyond the turnoff to Kernville. The entrance to Audubon Kern River Preserve is on the left and is signed. Drive 0.2 miles on the dirt easement into the preserve. Park in the grassy parking lot.

FROM THE DESERT: Thirty miles from Highway 14. Turn onto Hwy 178 west toward Lake Isabella. Approximately 45 minutes driving time. Drive through the villages of Walker Pass, Canebrake, Onyx, and Weldon. The entrance to the Kern River Preserve is on the right a few feet beyond Kelso Valley Road. Drive 0.2 miles on the dirt easement into the preserve. Park in the grassy parking lot.

Sprague Ranch Unit of the Kern River Preserve - Directions: 7901 Fay Ranch Road, Weldon. (Lunch & PM) From Hwy 178, east of the entrance to the main headquarters of Audubon Kern River Preserve. Turn north on Fay Ranch Road, drive approximately 1.6 miles until you reach an open hay barn on the left. (0.1 miles past the Southern Sierra Research Station buildings). Turn left onto the dirt road, bear left at the fork in the road and head toward the only building in the field. Park under the three cottonwood trees or along the split rail fence.
